CA Intermediate Course is the second stage of the CA Course. For the registration of this level, students need to pass out the CA Foundation Papers first. It is also the pathway for the new students who want to join CA through CA direct entry route method. The CA Inter exam is held annually in May and November. After passing the CA Foundation Exam, students can register for the CA Intermediate course. Registration for CA Intermediate is done online on the ICAI official Website. The CA intermediate Single Group registration fee is Rs. 13000 and Rs.18000 for both groups.

The CA Intermediate syllabus consists of 8 subjects divided into two groups; each Group has 4 papers. Each subject paper consists of 100 Marks.

ICAI CA Intermediate Course Eligibility 2023

Students can register themselves for the Chartered Accountant Intermediate Course through CA Intermediate Direct Entry Route Method and CA Intermediate Foundation Route Method. The eligibility criteria for both are different. 

CA Foundation Route

Below are the eligibility criteria for those students who are applying for CA Intermediate new course through the direct entry route method. 

  • After successfully clearing the ICAI CA Foundation Examination students are eligible to apply for the Intermediate course of CA Foundation. 
  • Students have to score 40% marks in each subject along with an aggregate score of 50% marks on the mark sheet.

Through Direct Entry Scheme

Below are details about the CA Intermediate Direct Entry Route Method eligibility criteria. 

Students who are applying through the direct entry route don’t have to appear for the CA Foundation Examination. 

  • Appearing students applying through the direct entry route method who had completed their Graduation and Post-graduation in the commerce field with 55% Marks can register themselves for the CA Intermediate Course.  
  • Students who have successfully completed the foundation route and Intermediate level of the ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) or ICWAI (Institute of Cost Accountants of India) can apply for the course.
  • Students applying for the CA New course after completion of Graduation and Post Graduation from a Non-commerce background have to score an aggregate of 60% Marks in the last examination to appear in the CA Intermediate examination. 

CA Intermediate Course Provisional Registration. 

Provisional registration is available for the students who are in their final year of Graduation. But they can commence their practical training only after submission of satisfactory proof to the ICAI regarding completion of the graduation with the specified percentage.

CA Intermediate Registration Process

Below is the in-depth information about the Registration Process for the CA Intermediate Course. 

CA Intermediate registration is accomplished by filling out the online registration form available on the ICAI website under the student’s tab in course registration forms.

Students are required to make the payment of the prescribed fees by filling out the registration form through the payment gateway.

After making the payment, the ICAI system will generate a form. You are required to take its print and submit this to the concerned regional office within 7 days after duly signed by the candidate along with the following documents.

Registration for CA Intermediate students through CA Foundation Route Students

  1. Students have to submit an attested copy of the class 12th marks sheet or its equivalent Central Govt. recognized examination pass Mark statement.
  2. Affix a coloured and latest photograph on the hard copy of the CA Intermediate Registration Form. 
  3. Attested copy of the proof of Nationality of the Foreign Student. 
  4. Attested copy of the proof of the special category certificate of the student i.e. SC/ST/OBC or Differently abled.

Registration for CA Intermediate Students through Direct Entry Route Students 

  1. Students have to submit an attested copy of the Graduation / Post Graduation Marksheet  OR Marksheet of Intermediate level Examination of ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) or ICWAI (Institute of Cost Accountants of India)
  2. One coloured and the latest photograph of students should be attested to the printout of the online registration form.
  3. Attested copy of the proof of Nationality, if a student is Foreigner.
  4. Attested copy of the proof of the special category of the student i.e. SC/ST/OBC or Differently abled.

Once the above formalities are completed by the students, ICAI CA Intermediate Course Study Material will be dispatched to the students within one month through the Centralised Dispatch System.

CA Intermediate Course Fees

If you are registering for the CA Intermediate Course level through the CA Foundation route then you have an option that you can register for either both groups or for a single group.

But if you are registering through the direct entry route then you don’t have the above option and you have to register for both groups at a time.

Appearing students who are entering the ICAI CA Intermediate New Course by the direct entry route have to pay Rs 200 (US $ 20) for the prospectus. 

In addition to the above fees, CA Inter Direct entry students also need to register themselves for the ITT and OP training program before registering for the practical training each for 15 days.

The CA Intermediate fee for ITT(Information Technology Training) Program is Rs 6500/- inclusive of the Study Material and tea/refreshment provided by the  ICAI.

And the fee for the OP (Orientation Program ) is Rs 7000/- inclusive of Study Material and tea/refreshment provided by the ICAI.

However, the students from the normal route or the students who are registered after clearing the Intermediate level of the ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) or ICWAI (Institute of Cost Accountants of India) can complete these training after passing either single or both the groups of Intermediate but before the commencement of practical training.

CA Intermediate Exam Form 2023

Registration is not enough to appear in the CA Intermediate Examination. You have to fill out the CA Intermediate Application form to appear in CA Intermediate Course.  

You can fill out the application form online through the ICAI portal by logging into your account and if you are not registered then first you have to register yourself. Detail procedure for registration and filling out the application form is mentioned in the CA Intermediate Exam Form 2023 article.

Unfortunately, in case your photo or signature is not appearing on the screen while filing the examination form, then you are required to submit/send the PDF to the Examination Deptt.

You need to take a printout of the examination form, affix your latest colored photo, duly sign the form and get it attested by the practicing member of the ICAI or the Gazetted Officer or the Head of the Educational Institute, and submit the same at the designated office of the ICAI.

Once your application form is submitted along with the successful payment of the prescribed fees, you are eligible to appear in the Examination.

CA Inter Admit Card Details

CA Intermediate Course Admit card is necessary to appear in the examination. Without the Admit card, ICAI will not allow students to sit in the examination. 

ICAI generally issues admit cards 21 days before the exam. You will not be permitted to sit in the examination hall without an admit card. How to prepare for CA Intermediate Examination Nov 2023?

CA Intermediate exams are tough in comparison to the CA Foundation examination. Students are advised to study hard with dedication, then only they are able to crack the examination.

Marks required to clear the Intermediate level are like this –

40% marks are required in each and every subject

50% marks are required in the aggregate of all the subjects.

60% marks are required to get an exemption in a single paper. If you get 60% marks or above in a single paper without passing the complete group, then that paper will be exempt for further three attempts.

CA Inter Training Details

A student can register for the practical training after passing either one or both groups. In addition to this one has to undergo the ITT and OT each consisting of 15 days. Once you have passed both groups of Intermediate, you will be eligible to register for the CA Final.

It is mandatory for Students to complete all the 3 training mentioned below. 

  • ICITSS
  • Articleship Training 
  • AICITSS. 

The ICITSS and AICITSS are the 4 weeks each training.
