Once they’re done with the registration part, they have to commit to 4 months of preparation before appearing for it. As per the new ICAI announcements, this exam will happen thrice in 12 months (January, May/June, and September). Results are revealed two months after the examinations.
CA Intermediate Course Duration
The entire ca intermediate course duration lasts around 8-9 months. This level has two groups with different subjects in both groups. Two months following the test, ICAI announces the CA Intermediate results. Following the outcome of the examinations from either of the groups, students can start their articleship training.
ICITSS period
The CA course duration covers an integrated course on information technology and soft skills (ICITSS Training), which must be completed before articleship. Its period includes 100 hours of IT tuition and seven days of orientation classes.
CA Articleship Training Period
Every candidate must complete the two-year CA Articleship program in their chartered accountant course duration. Students will gain hands-on experience under professional chartered accountants over these two years.
After completing any or both CA Intermediate groups, CA students are qualified to apply for articleship training. Throughout the articleship period, they gain practical knowledge in accounting, auditing, taxation, and associated fields.
NOTE: As per the new policies of ICAI, the articles program has been reduced to two years compared to the previous three-year curriculum. The candidates are qualified to take the CA final exams after six months of training. Also, unlike the earlier schedule, they do not have to come for further training after completing the CA finals.
AICITSS Time Period
Prior to taking the CA Final examinations, achievement of the Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS) is necessary. AICITSS is a four-week curriculum emphasising soft skills and advanced IT competencies training.
CA Final Course Duration
The CA Final Course duration ends when learners complete their articleship and the CA Intermediate groups. They are then ready to take the final examinations, further divided into two groups. Students need to register for the exams during the training period.
CA Course Duration After 10th
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) permits learners of 10th grade to go for the chartered accountancy course. However, exams are only open to those who have finished 12th grade.
For learners entering after the tenth grade, the duration of the Chartered Accountancy spans around seven years. This is the same route one has to follow when they are in 12th grade and seeking a CA degree.
The sole distinction in this route is the addition of the eleventh and twelfth grades.
CA Course Duration After Graduation
After graduation, the course duration persists for four and ½ years. Candidates are not required to take the CA Foundation test and to enrol straight away in the CA Intermediate Program.
After clearing both CA Inter groups, they will have to finish the remainder of their articleship to get ready for the CA final examinations. The following table will give a clear view of the after graduation ca course duration:
