ICAI CA Intermediate Course 2020- A Full Detail Guide for CA Intermediate Examination.

The Institution of Chartered Accountant of India is responsible for all the CA Operations in  India. It has divided the CA Course into 3 different stages of CA Foundation Course, CA Intermediate Course, and CA Final Course. ICAI also did some modification the CA Foundation is replaced from CPT ( Common Proficiency Test), CA Intermediate Course is replaced from CA IPCC and the final remains the same. CA Intermediate is the second stage of the Chartered Accountancy course. It is also the pathway to the new students who want to join CA through CA direct entry route method. 

Students can join CA Intermediate course through two methods CA Direct entry route method and CA Foundation Entry Route Method. 

You have passed the CA entrance exam. Now, you have become the part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. This is the beginning of your journey as a CA student.  After passing the CA Foundation you have to clear the next level i.e. Intermediate and CA Final. And remember friends every level is five times more difficult than earlier so get ready for the hard work. 

Those students who want to register directly for the CA Intermediate course can apply through the direct entry scheme if they are Graduate or Postgraduate or appearing in the final year of Graduation or cleared the Intermediate level of CS or CWA.

Let’s start how will be your journey after passing out CA Foundation. As you know that ICAI has revised its curriculum and due to this IPCC is replaced by Intermediate. Once you have passed the CA Foundation Course you will have to get register for the CA Intermediate course.

ICAI CA Intermediate Course Eligibility 2020.

Students can register themselves for the Chartered Accountant Intermediate Course through CA Intermediate Direct Entry Route Method and CA Intermediate Foundation Route Method. The eligibility criteria for both is different. 

Eligibility for CA Intermediate Course- Foundation Route Method.

Below are eligibility criteria for those students who are applying for CA Intermediate new course through the direct entry route method. 

  • After successfully clearing the ICAI CA Foundation Examination students are eligible to apply for the Intermediate course of CA Foundation. 
  • Students have to score 40% marks in each subject along with an aggregate score of 50% marks on the mark sheet.

Eligibility for CA Intermediate- Direct Entry Route Method. 

Below are details about the CA Intermediate Direct Entry Route Method eligibility criteria. 

Students who are applying through the direct entry route they don’t have to appear for the CA Foundation Examination. 

  • Appearing students applying through the direct entry route method who had completed their Graduation and Post-graduation in the commerce field with 55% Marks can register themselves for the CA Intermediate Course.  
  • Students who have successfully completed the foundation route and Intermediate level of the ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) or ICWAI (Institute of Cost Accountants of India) can apply for the course.
  • Students applying of the CA Intermediate New course after completion of Graduation and Post Graduation from NOn-commerce background have to score an aggregate of 60% Marks in last examination to appear in the CA Intermediate examination. 

CA Intermediate Course Provisional Registration. 

Provisional registration is available for the students who are in their final year of Graduation. But they can commence their practical training only after submission of the satisfactory proof to the ICAI regarding completion of the graduation with the specified percentage.

CA Intermediate Course Registration Process 

Below is the in-depth information about the Registration Process of CA Intermediate Course. 

CA Intermediate registration is accomplished by filling the online registration form available on the ICAI website under the student’s tab in course registration forms.

Students are required to make the payment of the prescribed fees by filling the registration form through the payment gateway.

After making the payment, the ICAI system will generate a form. You are required to take its print and submit this to the concerned regional office within 7 days after duly signed by the candidate along with the following documents.

Registration for CA Intermediate students through CA Foundation Route Students –

  1. Students have to submit an attested copy of the class 12th marks sheet or its equivalent Central Govt. recognized examination pass Mark statement.
  2. Affix a colored and latest photograph on the hard copy of the CA Intermediate Registration Form. 
  3. Attested copy of the proof of Nationality of the foreign Student. 
  4. Attested copy of the proof of the special category certificate of the student i.e. SC/ST/OBC or Differently abled.

Registration for CA Intermediate Student through Direct Entry Route Students –

  1. Students have to submit an attested copy of the Graduation / Post Graduation Marksheet  OR Marksheet of Intermediate level Examination of ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) or ICWAI (Institute of Cost Accountants of India)
  2. One colored and a latest photograph of students should be attested to the print out of the online registration form.
  3. Attested copy of the proof of the Nationality, if a student is Foreigner.
  4. Attested copy of the proof of the special category of the student i.e. SC/ST/OBC or Differently abled.

Once the above formalities are completed by the students, ICAI CA Intermediate Course Study Material will be dispatch to the students within one month through the Centralised Dispatch System.

CA Intermediate Course- Registration Fee of CA Intermediate Course 2020. 

If you are registering for the CA Intermediate Course level through the CPT or CA Foundation route then you have an option that you can register for either both groups or for a single group.

But if you are registering through the direct entry route then you don’t have the above option and you have to register for both the groups at a time.

Appearing students who are entering the ICAI CA Intermediate New Course by the direct entry route have to pay Rs 200 (US $ 20) for the prospectus. 

In addition to the above fees, CA Inter Direct entry students also need to register themselves for the ITT and OP training program before registering for the practical training each for the 15 days.

The CA Intermediate fee for ITT(Information Technology Training) Program is Rs 6500/- inclusive of the Study Material and tea/refreshment provided by the  ICAI.

And the fee for the OP (Orientation Program ) is Rs 7000/- inclusive of Study Material and tea/refreshment provided by the ICAI.

However, the students from the normal route or the students who are registered after clearing the Intermediate level of the ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) or ICWAI (Institute of Cost Accountants of India) can complete these training after passing either single or both the groups of Intermediate but before the commencement of practical training.

ICAI CA Intermediate Course 2020 Concession.

Below are concession provided by the ICAI 

ICAI made an announcement about a 75% special concession in the registration fee till the March 2020 session.

Students from the below states can avail of the concession facility given by the ICAI. 

Students are required to give proof of their state nationality. 

  • Ladakh
  • New Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir
  • Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura, Nagaland.

ICAI CA Intermediate Course Subjects 2020. 

CA Intermediate course syllabus is divided into two groups consisting of four subjects in each group. All the papers of CA Intermediate course is of 100 Marks each.

ICAI CA Intermediate Course Application Form. 

Registration is not enough to appear in the CA Intermediate Examination. You have to fill the CA Intermediate Application form to appear in CA Intermediate Course.  

You can fill the application form online through the ICAI portal by logging into your account and if you are not registered then first you have to register yourself. Detail procedure for registration and filling of application form is mentioned in the CA Intermediate Application procedure article.

Unfortunately, in case your photo or signature is not appearing on the screen while filing the examination form, then you are required to submit/send the PDF to the Examination Deptt.

You need to take a print out of the examination form, affix your latest colored photo, duly sign the form and get it attest by the practicing member of the ICAI or the Gazetted Officer or the Head of the Educational Institute and submit the same at the designated office of the ICAI.

Once your application form is submitted along with the successful payment of the prescribed fees, you are eligible to appear in the Examination.

CA Intermediate Course Examination Fee

Appearing CA Intermediate students can either appear for the CA Intermediate Single group or both groups. Below are all the fee delta of CA Intermediate course single group or both group fee.

ICAI CA Intermediate Course 2020-  OPT OUT Option May 2020. 

Due to COVID-19 ICAI has postponed the CA Intermediate May 2020 Examination to July 2020. 

In reference to CA Intermediate May 2020 Course ICAI also released CA Intermediate July 2020 Opt-Out Notification. 

Students who do not want to appear in the CA Intermediate July/August (May 2020), can avail of the opt-out facility and appear in the CA Intermediate Nov 2020 Examination. Students can read more about the news from the ICAI official website. 

CA Intermediate course- Admit Card 2020

CA Intermediate Course Admit card is necessary to appear in the examination. Without the Admit card, ICAI will not allow students to sit in the examination. 

ICAI generally issues admit cards 21 days before the exam. You will not be permitted to sit in the examination hall without an admit card. How to Prepare for CA Intermediate Examination 2020. 

CA Intermediate exams are tough in comparison to CA Foundation examination. Students are advised to study hard with dedication, then only they are able to crack the examination.

First four papers are part of Group 1 and the next four are part of Group 2. You can appear either in Group 1 or Group 2 or both groups as per your preparation even after registering for both the groups.

Marks required to clear the Intermediate level is like this –

40% marks are required in each and every subject

50% marks are required in the aggregate of all the subjects.

60% marks are required to get exemption in a single paper. If you get 60% marks or above in a single paper without passing the complete group, then that paper will be exempt for further three attempts.

ICAI CA Intermediate Course: Training Details

A student can register for the practical training after passing either one or both the groups. Addition to this one has to undergo through the ITT and OT each consists of 15 days. Once you have passed both the groups of Intermediate, you will be eligible to register for the CA Final.

It is mandatory for Students to complete all the 3 training mentioned below. 

  • ICITSS
  • Articleship Trainings 
  • AICITSS. 

The ICITSS and AICITSS is the 4 weeks each trainings. 

CA Intermediate Result.

ICAI declared the CA Intermediate course Result two months after the Examination. After clearing both the groups of CA Intermediate examination. Students can apply for the CA Final Registration and can start their CA  Articleship training.

But students Intermediate is not easy to crack. As everybody knows that entry in this course is easy but difficult.
